About
Swappel.com is an improved online local marketplace where people can buy, trade, and, sell their items or services. The company was founded in late 2011 after founder Dillon Scott began buying, selling, and, trading on Craigslist to pay the rent. Not only was it fun, but he was also able to get the things he needed when he was low on cash.
However, the process was complicated and time-consuming having to e-mail so many people in hopes of finding someone that wanted to trade. After seeing those around him struggling in a poor economy, he set out to simplify the process and build something that could help others going through a difficult time.
He then used community message boards to seek out other like-minded tech entrepreneurs to become a part of helping him develop this new platform. Here he was able to quickly set up a team that also became passionate about being a part of creating something that could change the world and Swappel was officially born! Dillon – Founder
I focus on working smarter instead of harder while working harder than the rest. I can never absorb enough, so if I’m not hacking away on a computer I’m most likely reading. I like to solve puzzles and believe that no problem is too big if you focus on it and work hard enough. This world is ours for the taking and anyone who wants it bad enough can accomplish anything. I have a lot of karma on Reddit, but that’s probably because of my cat Sheba who is part leopard. If the Mars One Initiative would have accepted me I would have gone to live on Mars, but guess I’m stuck here for now

Eric – Co-Founder & Lead Engineer
I’m an architect of 0′s and 1′s as an art, not just a skill. I believe in a lean startup philosophy and decision making by science and data. I love disruptive innovation and BIG ideas, which is why I’m so passionate about science and technology. Some people say I have my head in the clouds but I consider that short sighted. The universe is my frontier. When I’m not hacking code and devising beautiful solutions to difficult problems I spend time reading physics journals and conceptualizing the inner workings of nature on my personal 4′x8′ whiteboard. I hope to one day have my own laboratory where I can study and invent to my heart’s content.

I’m just one out of many, playing a small part in a bigger picture. I’m a big dreamer, chasing an even bigger change. I work hard to play hard, but most of all love connecting people to make things happen. At the end of the day everything sums down to justice for me, that’s probably why 48 Hour Mystery marathons are my favorite! Dr. Seuss is my idol because he wasn’t afraid to be himself even though he was different. I’m looking to build and create sustainable solutions to big problems. End Goal: Help People.

Jessica – Lead Designer
Some people call me the graphics fairy; I like to think that I’d fit in well in a Disney movie. I like making things pretty and bringing ideas to life. I was born to create but most importantly to connect. I am a team builder and a people encourager. At heart I am a total geek, so I love Sci-Fi and fantasy. I really can’t decide what’s more awesome, Dr. Who or Firefly but I guess some things we’ll never know. Life is a fairy tale adventure, I’m just along for the ride and I can’t wait to see where I go next.

Sean – Front End Developer
I’m a red head, which automatically makes me unpredictable and sets me apart from all the rest. My life goal is to own a batmobile but until then I guess my Hyundai Tucson will have to do. I used to be a music teacher so I have a great appreciation for good music, which is why I can only code listening to The Bibi Hendle. I’m a wanna be geek who loves technology. I just wish I had more free time for Sci-Fi and video games. For me though, being passionate means being motivated, so even a few late nights and early mornings won’t stop me from working towards my goals.
